Dear Woman of Culture is a global community for women of Indigenous and Global South heritage. It connects women worldwide through The Circle, an online platform, and Substack, its discovery channel.
With cultural Sacred Witnesses from different backgrounds leading sessions and rituals, it's an ongoing space for cultural and spiritual practices that don't usually have a place to exist.
The name that started everything.
Her full name is Nkemakonam.
For years, the world knew her as Linda, a name chosen not out of love, but out of survival. A quiet concession to a world that found the full sound of who she was too much to hold. Too unfamiliar. Too rooted in a lineage that western spaces had no vocabulary for.
In her own journey, through rituals, research, psychedelic experimentation, spiritual downloads, and the slow unravelling of everything she had been taught to perform, N'kem began to return to herself. And at the centre of that return was her name.
Nkemakonam is not just a name. It is a language. A lineage. It carries the weight and the breath of her ancestors.
To speak it fully. To introduce herself without abbreviation, without apology, without the instinct to make it easier for someone else to digest, that was the act of reclamation. That was the moment the door opened.
Dear Woman of Culture was born from that threshold. From the understanding that so many women across the world have set themselves down, piece by piece, to survive the weight of colonisation, western expectation, and cultural erasure. And that what they need is not fixing. What they need is a place to remember.
N'kem built that place. Not for a version of herself the world found palatable. For herself, whole. And for every woman who recognises that feeling.
